Parking brake removal
...With all this talk of the parking brake shoes hanging up on the rear disc setup's, is there any reason to not just remove the whole shoe setup from inside the disc setup and toss them? This of course would render the parking brake system useless, but we wouldnt have to worry about the dragging shoes inside the disc anymore!!

it sounds like a fine and dandy plan, Rich. however, removing the parking brake isnt a good idea, one reason for being, it is your only means of stopping the truck in the chance your primary brakes fail. another would be when parking on a hill, trusting the parking pawl in the transmission isnt a good idea (truck may roll away and cause a busload of children or nuns to crash) but hey, if you wanna carry around a couple of 2x4's to use as wheel chocks, go ahead, knock yourself out.
