Recently I replaced all 3 U-joints on my rear driveshaft and had it balanced. Now a few weeks after, I have a squeak or a chirp coming from the transfercase area and not sure what it is. It only happens first thing in the morning, or if the truck has been sittting for a few hrs, once it has been moving for a while it seems to go away.
Not sure what else to check and the noise is driving me nuts!!! I need help once again from all the experts on here.
Oh I also check all 4 calipers and none of them are dragging from what I can tell.
That is a tough one to find.Did you change the carrier bearring as well?Is the rubber about gone in it?I am sure you greased the slip joint while you had the drive shaft out?
The truck is a supercab, so there is no carrier bearing, and yes the slipyoke was greased real good. The spindle nut on the transfercase was a lil loose, so I tightened that also.
I tightened it last nite actually, it was a little loos. Its got cranked down on pretty good, with a bunch of permanent loc-tite. it almlst sounds like it made it worse.
The worst part is that it goes away after about 10-15mknutes of driving. Could the bearing on the output shaft of the transfercase be on its way out? if so, How big of a job is it to change that out?
Dan (KWIK) could tell you about breaking apart a T-case. Does the T-Case have plenty of fluid? I would change it out also if you haven't in the last year.
