I recently got my first diesel a late 99 F250 4x4 crew cab 7.3L. I was pulling a 9000 lb trailer and when I put my foot in it going up a hill etc, It would stop making the whistle noise and it sounded like driving slow with a bad air leak in a tire. I was told it was turbo surge. Is this something that will hurt the engine? Should I fix it with a wicked wheel ASAP? or can I let it go asis?
i dont think i would make much. the best thing is to not do it. i pull 12000lbs and dont get surg but i dont push it that hard. i only get surg when im playing around.
I think my little turbo is immune to surge, I've only had it happen a time or two.
Glad to hear your truck is all fixed now go buy a spare cps from Ford or international.
