I found some "shortie" headers for my 300 that are listed as 13" long. It looks like that is from the head flange to the collector flange. They still advertise "18% power gains over stock" - same as full length headers (about 33"). Since it takes about 12" of 1.65" header tube to contain one stroke of exhaust gas, aren't these "shorties "just a bit too short? I'm talking about the 3-4" used to merge the tubes before the collector flange. Or does the firing order of the 300-6, combined with the "double - 3 pairing" of (any) headers eliminate my concern?
They're from our friends at Cliffordperformance.com . They're "hidden" at the "store" under Ford 240-300, listed as a "Street rod" header. Part #53-0015 for $279 & 53-0016 w/ "smog" (o2 sensor ports) for $289. I'm assuming the 0016 Is just the 0015 w/smogs, both are called "street rods" but when you look at "more" the 0015 is listed as a "13 inch, 16 gage" for "vans & 4x4s to '79; 2x4 & 4x4 -'80 & up"...$279... I hope this isn't a misprint. If you pull up the "online catalog- jpg format" and go to the "street rod headers" page 12, there'a a pic of some for a 223... they ARE short...
'any misgivings about the "short" version?
The 53-0015 IS one of the header #'s they FINALLLY gave me as an option for my '82 Bronco...
I noticed a lot more "love" goin' around for Clifford in the early I-6 posts...my jury is still out.

OOPS, that was from the '02 price list. They are now "$279"
