I have been looking for front brake hardware kit for my 1967 F-100 4X4, Napa said they only carry the kit for the back brakes.Does anyone know were I can find them and what part number it is?
Thanks Scott
I'm assuming you have drums. I know you can get the wheel cylinders with bleeder nut installed in them at Advance. If you just need the bleeder nut you have to go to Autozone. As far as springs and stuff I have no idea.
Thanks for the info but the rear barke hardwear is not the same for the front.
Dennis thanks for the web site I will use that for my 68 Torino the parts I need are for the front hard wear kit for a F-100 4X4 and they had nothing that said 4X4.
Thanks Scott
No... one had the exact springs that came off my 1971 F-100 4x4 and I *think* they might have even been the original hardware.
I ended up getting the stuff from Autozone. The real difference is the spring right over (retractor) the star adjuster. From the factory it is a straight spring about four inches long, all the kits come with one that has angled ends. You can make it work. I have only seen the exact spring in one mail order catalog.
Otherwise I got my stuff from either Autozone and Advance Auto Parts. The reason for the mixture is no one store had everything, especially the drums.
I will tell you this, there is a difference in drum quality. The cheaper made ones are not balanced like the factory with welded on weights and the poor quality ones come with tons of weights on them. I just made sure the ones on the front were 1/2 way decent. I suspect the ones from original tooling that have an AMC type part # (323 9694 i.e.) are the better and heavier ones.
thanks rebo, yes I know the feeling but napa does carry the brake drums for my front and backs and they carry the hardwear kit for the back brakes but not the front I realy dont see why they dont I thank that there is alot of 67-72 4X4 out there.
But what can i do I will keep looking
Scott
I tried NAPA, their drums were more than 2x the cost of the Autozone drums. Unless the cheaper ones go out of round, I can not see paying $70+ for one drum.
While on the subject, search this forum about the topic concerning the drums being pressed onto the hubs and reaming the stud holes out so the drum lays flat on the hub.
