Could a brake be installed at the transfer case or pinion and be used along with the wheel brakes to increase braking power? I see many kits for parking brakes mounted in these areas but never as a brake hooked in with the wheel brakes.
The biggest problem with a pinion style brake is that the driveshaft spins at such a fast rate , compared to the wheels, that the single brake overheats. I understand that you want to use this along with wheel brakes, but this will still be a heat problem, and if driven on the strret, will wear out pads rapidly.
The more gear you run, the greater the rpm af the shaft, and the greater the heat during a stop.
That is why they are using them as parking brakes.
Best choice is to upgrade the brakes with larger calipers, and larger rotos if you have the wheel clearance.
