Why do you need big brakes? I spent probably a little less than a thousand bucks on Hawk super duty pads Front and rear and Ebc rotors all around from summit racing and my braking is a thousand times better than the long life pads that were on there before.

I am sure if you drive your Excursion like the factory meant you to with stock size wheels and tires you don't. If you have larger wheels and tires or tow a lot then I recommend them or what you did. However the stopping power the big brakes kits have is really hard to explain until you've driven something with big brakes. I do some weekend HPDE's with whatever Mustang I currently own (I change cars a lot) when I bought my 13 Boss 302 with the big Brembos the stopping power was unreal. I could go so much faster into a corner and brake a lot later with no fade. After my lift kit and 20's with 35's go on I am tapped for cash but my next mod is the SSBC kit and for just over $1000 you can't beat the price.
I am running 35s with a 6 inch lift and I am trying to get the beast under better control gearing was the first mod I made but my brakes are getting shot I like the big brake kits as far as safety

Off topic but you just mentioned that you regeared for the taller tires and towing. What gears did you go with and what are you towing? I'm a towing nerd and always like to check out everyone's setup.
It's not "why" you need it. To some, I think that's almost like asking someone why they need toilet paper. I didn't need to put 93 Cobra brakes on my 86 foxbody, but turned out to be an awesome upgrade.
It's that you "need" it. I've contemplated the SSBC Kit too. That looks monstrous. Definitely let us know if you like them.
The whole do you "need" something no matter what does well I want to be nice so lets say bothers me! So I love what you said well phrased we are here to learn and get some advice not be questioned. I hope they work out well I wish they had a dual caliber kit. I bet you had alot of options for your cobra cars get alot of brake kits but not quite the same for tucks dont know why?
Holy cow! 5.13s with 35"s! I bet that does tow well, is it a V-10? What are you pulling, what are the RMPs at say 60 MPH and how is the solo and towing mileage?
Sounds like a towing beast!
Using your exact tire height what does you effective ratio work out to? Has to up around 4.88 or so, I towed with my 4.88s and 32" tires for two years and it was a real monster, loved to gobble up the hills (and gas!).
