I've been getting an odd shaking when I get upward of 65mph but lessens over 80. It feels like it's a vertical motion, but I can't isolate it to tell if it's from the front or rear.
I checked over it and also took it in to have it looked at. So far,
Alignment - OK
Ball joints - Replaced
Shocks - upgraded / old ones still had life on them
Tires balanced & rotated - but were within specs
Brakes - F L rotor turned & R R caliper & pad replaced
Rear Diff - checks OK
No issues from the 4x4 components
It's an 03 but she just hit 100K. I'm now focusing on the U joints and carrier bearing. Brian put a custom "always on" torque converter when I had the BTS tranny installed, so I can't really tell if there is any pressure on the drive line while it's running. I'm not getting any of the usual clanking to point to the U-joint, but I plan to get under it this week and see if there is any play on the drive shaft. Any recommendations on best U-joint replacements?
I'm not getting any EWLs so I'm hoping and praying that something isn't amiss in the engine. Replaced the CPS & UVCH a year or so back so that shouldn't be rearing it ugly head either (crosses fingers).
You guys have any ideas for other possible culprits?
Well, I pushed on my drive shaft but it's pretty solid with no give from the joints. I'm thinking it may be down to having a frozen U joint somewhere along the linkage. Going to have a shop take it off and check it for balance next week. Also, get a good look at any other possibility in the area.
Anyone figure this out? I have the same vibration that happens at 65 under load, if i take my foot off the gas, no vibration, step on the gas then vibration. Just recently had new tires put on, new front rotors and pads. The problem happened with the old tires and brakes, thought maybe one of the tires was out of balance so I figured the problem would be taken care of with new tires. Since it only happens when under load, i figure it must be something turning, drive shaft and I hope not a tranny. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks
