Question Fuel tank strap question

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 1996 F250 7.5EFI from craigslist, it was only 1500 bucks and I just need a dump runner for the weekends. After I bought it I got an inspection at my mechanic, and found that one gas tank strap for the front tank is being held together with duct tape.....so it needs replacing. Im decently mechanical, so I am going to try to replace it myself but Im getting some mixed results while searching for parts. Basically I need to know if the tank a side mount or midship mount? And is there a way to determine size besides filling it? The tank runs front to back of the truck, so I'm guessing it would be a side mount, but I figured I would ask some people with a little more knowledge than me. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I believe it is an 18 gallon tank and the rear tank is 19. I have the same truck and did mine a couple years back. My Napa dealer ordered them and i waited 2 days for them. Any auto parts store will either have them or get them, lots available.

If it's a long bed the front (midship) tank will be 19 gallons. The rear (aft) tank will be 18.2 gallons. I believe short beds got a 16 gallon tank.
