milage increase
You could start by taking anything out of your truck that you don't need to carry with you all the time (tools and the like), maybe remove your spare tire if equipped. If you are handy with wood or better yet fiberglass or aluminum you can fab up your own fastback style bed cap.
After that you got to start spending money a tuner will likely not do a whole lot to improve mileage but then again it might work. Here are a few other ideas.
- If you have bench seat or split bench seat take out either whole seat or just the passenger side seat and track you will save a noticeable amount of weight by doing this.
- Lower your truck a few inches to give it a smaller frontal profile.
- Maybe invest in a body kit or better yet make one your self.
- Get the lightest, thinnest, and hardest wearing tires possible the light weight of the tires will mean the engine has less mass to turn and the thin profile of the tire will mean less contact with the ground thus less rolling resistance and the hard non-squishy tire material will not only last longer but lower the rolling resistance even more.
- Custom cut polycarbonate windows and windshield.
- The lightest weight 16" wheels you can find.
- Re-gear your rear end to a higher ratio like 3.31 or higher.
Harder tires, fresh front OX sensors if they are old and training your brain/foot to use less throttle, especially after cresting a hill, into not holding so much throttle opening when it's not needed and running about 55 +/-.
Were all guilty of it.
Good luck.
