rear end

i was wondering the gears in my 56 f-250 are 4:56 does anyone know if its a 9 inch ford or 8.8 or dana? any help would be great GO PACKERS

Can you show us a picture of what you have?
If it is the original, it is most likely a Dana 60.

I can tell you if you have a '56 F-250, it will be neither a 9" nor an 8.8. They weren't invented yet, plus they were never used in 3/4 ton trucks.

My 1955 F250 originally had a Timken split housing rear end with 4.86 gears.
