Hey guys, first post. As the title says, I think that I lost the passenger side rear plug. I know the COP is toast. I couldn't see cause it was dark. My question is, has Ford ever officially done anything for its customers because of this problem? I am the original owner (2002 Expedition with 84,000 easy miles) and really don't have the money to repair the head at this time. There was no real warning. Dropped off my son at GF house, started truck, sounded like a huge exhaust leak. Shut down immediately, popped hood, found COP. Any info on recourse would be great. Thanks in advance. Also, I honestly did NOT use the search as I have to take care of this ASAP so please forgive me if this has been discussed a million times before.
To my knowlege Ford has not taken responsibility for this poor design issue that has plagued thousands of loyal Ford owners. The repair is not too difficult and Sears has the correct tool, usually in stock, for about $40.00 including the insert. You will have to buy a tube of Permatex High Strength silicone gasket maker and then it's just work.
Somebody in Jersey may jump in that already has the tool and save you a few bucks by loaning it to you.
Thanks for the reply. Actually had good fortune for once. Happened to plug #3 not #4. Had my buddy do it cause I had to work. Replaced plug and COP plus repair for $275.00. He actually delayed prior work to do my truck and was at it for quite some time. Thanks once again and 7 more new plugs to follow shortly.
