I'm @ 140K miles of sct tuned hard running and all I did when I got the sct is put on a high flow muffler like the Walker BTM....
Never had an issue with egt's and I PROMISE the way I drive it should have happened by now
or right after my before and after testing when I made about 20 passes down the strip
Not to say that if there's something ELSE wrong with your truck it won't bite you, but the sct and egt's should get along fine as long as you done something with the boat anchor muffler!
Ok I'm over the EGT worries..... How about EOT & ECT?? while running this tune what should my temps be? I have my oil temp in the top of the oil filter cap and the water temp in the block drain plug on the drivers side... Any help?
Still the same as not running a tune. No more than a 15 degree difference between the two. At high way speeds cursing on flat ground and full operating temps reached. EOT being the higher of the two.
Are you backing that recommendation down from 15deg due to the location of the sensors?
Exactly. Without taking the temp's from the "as tested" locations you can't be sure that you're going to get the same information. I already know that taking the temp in the oil filter is different than what the factory oil temp sensor reads.
I was thinking maybe texans had checked it both ways and come up with those #'s based on the results. If so, I am gonna make a note of it. I like the SGII alot but thinking of upgrading, I'm a gadget junkie
Sorry caiati, I didn't mean to hijack!
Some tunes smoke pretty good. I don't have a tuner on my truck so I can't say which ones. Search Utube for "ford 6.0 smoke switch" there's a video of how to do it another way but be warned, it's not good for your truck and is definantly NOT endorsed by most folks.
Sorry for the confusion. I typed the wrong numbers. But I have checked my analog a-pillar gauge against the AE, and it is defiantly different numbers coming from the oil filter cap. I see about 5-7 degrees higher at the oil filter cap than I do off the AE. I'm not sure yet, but I think some of it is the gauge and I plan to change it out soon and recheck. Will let everyone know.
