axle upgrade

hey ford guys...question: I have a 79 4x4 automatic with stock front and rear axles; 9" and dana 44, and I put 42" super swampers all around. will the stock axles hold up, or should I consider swapping out for 3/4ton axles?

Depends on how you intend to use the truck, generally speaking, those axles in stock form are good for up to 37's, but if you're just cruising around town in the truck i.e. mall crawling, then you'll probably be just fine, on the other hand, if you're going off-road and/or beating the truck hard the 42's will reveal the inherent limitations of those axles in very short order, in that case some bigger axles would be the way to go e.g. D60's front and rear.
