Better Axles

Saw these axles and i was wondering are they worth the price and the trouble to put them in.There ain't nothing wrong with mine exept theyve been ridden hard for 20 years.says 30 spline count what dose a stock 9 inch on a 1977 f150 have. Will it make my axle stronger or just stick with the old ones.

thanks

You most likely have 31 spline axles in your 9-inch. These are just replacement axles that are stronger than OE. Whether or not you need them depends on the horsepower you plan on making and what you intend to use the truck for.

I wouldnt replace your axles untill you actually break one. Then evaluate why it broke. If you are extremely hard on your axles then upgrade to a stronger one. If you just drive on the street most of the time and occasional off-roading then I wouldnt worry too much about axle strength.

I'd say the axle you have is plenty good enough.
Unless you start to run bigger tires, and run alot of power, then you'd want even bigger axles.

I had a 9inch in my truck and keep breaking axles. I mean 5 axles and 2 third member told me I needed to up grade but my foot is always in the floor and side-stepping it does help. I upgraded to a Dana 60 rear and have had no troubles.
The 78 my dad drives has one and it has held up just fine. It all depends on the driving style.

I agree, if you're not going drag racing or booney bashing with a bunch of horsepower, the stock ones should be fine. When we go drag racing, I run either Moser, Strange, or Mark Williams axles. There a step or two above the Superior's, and about 2 steps up in price!!! But, they are strong!!!
