I was just reading on you post, are these ballast digtial? I like these lights also, and they are half of the cost of retro-solutions. I just hope I don't melt something. Are yours 6000 or 5000. Thanks, Chet
nope not digi ballests, which is a funny point. a few friends of mine ditched the regular ballests for the digis when they started becoming popular. well they blew a few and decided the old ones arent too bad. i have some ballests that are from 2004! still working daily.
my excursion is 55w 8000k and my expedition is 35w 8000k.
Bryce, I have the same new head lights, and after I installed them I read they are not to run HID's. Mine is to e99. So I didn't order them. It said they run to hot for the design. I also just read on your posted retro-Solution HID's that they run cooler then typical 55W HID's. You mit want to keep this in mine. Did you run the bulbs that came with the lights, I did and they are not bright. I have yet to put my other bulbs in. God Bless, Chet
I bought the housings only. Bulbs did not come with the 03 housings. I've been using silverstar ultras in them and they dont get too hot, but I know that HID's are hotter. hmmmm... Thanks for the info.
Some guys experience an engine stumble when the HIDs come on, especially with a tuner. Mine did this twice, then I started turning on the lights while waiting for the glow plugs, no more stumble. I gather there is a fart of electrons when they pop on that messes with stuff. For a more comprehensive fix I put a rf choke (ferrite bead) on the cable to my DP tuner in the footwell. For cheap overkill I also put one on the power cable out of the ballasts. They just snap on over the cable. I also went with 4500k to make it less obvious to the local constabulary who might be itching to write a ticket.
The wiring polarity for the DDM pigtail to the oem harness seems to be always assembled wrong, so if your hi and lo beam are swapped move the wires. Hopefully these attachments below will help clarify.
FYI I recently ordered spare bulbs (no problems, I just like to have spares of oddball items) and got the entire kit except for the ballasts.
If you go with DDM Tuning you won't need the extra harness. Just order the HI/LO kit with the color/wattage combination you want, and you'll be set. I've been offline for a couple days, but I'll try to get the beads out to you in the next day or so.

Ok perfect. Thanks! I really appreciate it.
Now to try ordering them from the website again..........
ohhh I figured out why its not working. They dont allow a seperate billing and shipping addresses. That sucks. My billing address is a hawaii address right now but I'm leaving on friday night. Looks like I'm going to have to call some family tomorrow and see if they will charge it to their card so it gets shipped to the right place.
For those of you who have ordered from ddm, how long did it take to ship? Ground from Cali to WA. Think it'll be there by saturday if I order it tomorrow (monday)?
