Ford 97 Transmission Issues

97 ford diesel 7.3 140k The last year or so the overdrive blinks after about 100 miles of driving. It shifts at higher rpms in low gear, after a day or 2 it will reset and it drives like a new truck. It seems this is related to distance of driving....is this a sensor issue or is it an omen telling me to get a new transmission??? It has no other transmission issues and the engine light has never come on..

It depends, could be either or both. The ONLY way to know is to get the codes read. The places that read codes free can't read the codes that are stored when the OD light blinks.
