I do that at every oil change. Do it when there is still oil in there, it lets the piece float up, and then "ting"...

For sure tack them before reinstall, I have never seen the bolts back out, only the jet fall off the mount.

Wow, hopefully my 7.3 will never have a cooling jet issue. Actually, International/Ford should have engineered a better way to ensure this couldn't happen (ie: locktite/ tack weld) during factory assembly.

Thank you very much for the offer.
I didn't realize that the issue was with the tube falling out. I'll go see my cousin some night and get them done. Since he is only 30 mins from me.
Thanks again for the offer I'd rep you but I'm on my phone.

Got the motor out of the 01 - probably won't get it on the stand and the pan off till tomorrow. What a job that was! Tip for next time - take the cab off! By the time we got all the stuff out of the01 way we could have had the cab on the lift and rolled the frame & bed out from under! Heard of folks doing this but we decided not to - baaaaad choice on our part

Should be able to pull a 7.3 in about two hours... Pulling the cab, then disconnecting anything from the motor anyway is way more work.

Took us a bit longer - I think we'll take the cab off next time anyway. We had a hard time with getting the exhaust off (rusted/frozen fasteners) and making sure we'd gotten everything disconnected.

True, but you would have to get those same exhaust pieces off no matter what.

Just keep it in mind, Pull the cab, then pull the motor, or just pull the motor.

PB Blaster is a great product too!

Oh forgot the best part! - we ”discovered” that apparently this truck's body and hood was "touched up" by our dealer prior to delivery - when we removed the hood (a 1st by us for this truck) the color under the hinges was white not the green the rest of the truck is. Makes us think hail damage somewhere along the line before we got it from the dealer in late 01. It was built in jan 01 but we didn't get it from the dlr till Oct

We used an entire can of PB today! Main reason I vote to take the cab off 1st next time is just plain ole laziness on my part - easier access and less bending/contorting to get at stuff. Hate to say it but I'm not as young and flexible as I used to be.
