Nope - just open the door and they deploy. Close the door and they fold up. Step on them while you close the door and they stay down, so you can use them to wash the top, etc.

They're the same as the ones offered on the higher-end models, in theory. Ford builds them under license from AMP. They seem really quick to me, though. I hope Ford didn't slow down the deployment speed on the factory-equipped version.

So far so good, but 300 miles is no measure of a tire for sure. I am a Pirelli fan, so I hope the Scorps treat me well. I was thrilled that my truck didn't have Michelins on them. French tires = "le pew"!
ReForder - throw some Pirellis on that M5 and she'll be cornering at 2 Gs!
Oh, I'm not a huge Pirelli fan. I run Dunlop Z1 Star Specs on that bad boy in the summer, Bridgestone Potenzas spring and fall.
I had Pirelli's on my volvo XC60. They seemed ok but the wear on them wasn't great. I'm wondering if a street-oriented tire would be better than the ATs.
And I agree about Michellins...not fan either.
Anyway, truck looks good. I have to catch up to you in mods...but I'm actually selling the M5 first. Then I'll get the bed-liner sprayed in (Rhino) and the soft tonneau, probably wheel well liners, and the front windows tinted....spring will be exhaust time.
Quick question:
Lets say you get stuck in your driveway in the snow and the snow is up to the doors.
When you open the door to shovel. What happens to the steps if there is something against them like snow or whatever??
They stop - going either direction - when they sense a certain amount of resistance. How much resistance I am not sure, but there is an install vid out there showing a guy placing his hand between the step and the truck body during retraction. It stops when it hits his hand without even making him wince. I'm sure this was a design concern for AMP - making them small child/drunken mechanic friendly.
