I am now in posession of a 1996 ford f150 4x4. reg cab long box. Looking at redoing the entire truck. Everything on the cab, believe it or not, is in mint shape. Frame shot. So i went off to get half of a frame. got it. got the replacemetn tanks and brake lines hangers and everything that i need to put it back together. However, cannot find measurements, straight or cross, to put in the new peice. Project starts one foot behind the cab and completely back.
Why not just get a complete donor frame? Just curious.
As for the measurement, its real critical to get them cut the same on the donor adn the repair truck. then make sure they are square across corner to corner adn at the right height. I made call plates that bolted to my frame adn the donor frame to bolt them together adn line everything up and sit the bed on it to check the body lines prior to welding it up.
Once everything was adjusted and bolts were tightened I took the bed off adn wleded the inside frame rail, then removed the call plates adn welded the outside, Then i welded the call plates to the frame for gussets.
