Grade 5 vs. Grade 8

Hey guys, just a quick question: Is a grade 5 bolt or stud strong enough to hold 22 psi torque?

check out this site, it has the tensile strengths of the various bolt grades on it... I think you'll find your answer there..

Should be either foot punds or inch pounds.

I think it will more depend on the diameter of the bolt/stud.

3/8" is the diameter, and needed to know if a grade 5 is strong enough to hold 23 ft pounds torque on the intake/exh. of an inline.

the assembly torque value depends on bolt diameter, pitch of thread, and grade of bolt.

the link provided above is a very good one.

i'd suggest using the values provided in the table.
