Zhilton I'll be dropping the tank saterday for a good old fashion cleaning and a new set of filters I buy mostly from two staions both BP both sell alot of fuel
Thanks Bismic Would it be cheaper at international ?
Pretty much everything for these motors is cheaper at Navistar. The only problem is you have to be crafty about dealing with some of the parts counters. I know the one here in town has a hard time selling injectors without a engine serial number...even if you provide the p/n and the old injector in hand.
I used to buy all my filters from Navistar, until someone pointed out dieselfiltersonline.com....now I get the Racors (who makes both Ford & Navistar filters) there instead. Don't get me wrong, I still do business with my local Ford dealership, but lets not get stupid. Paying $90 for a fuel filter kit (which includes both filters) has got to be worse than getting raped.
I don't have deep pockets so I need all the cheap parts I can find I been getting oil filters at Wally world and FF at advance auto both motorcraft 55 for fuel and 20 for oil may be cheaper online haven't checked yet
For not having deep pockets, you are asking us to do a lot of leg work for you to save $$'s ............. .
Check w/ your International dealerships for fuel filters. They can be had for under $40. In fact I have bought quite a few for just under $31 at SanTex International.
A forum search and/or the Tech folder will give you the part number.
I'm going to check fuel pressure in the morning I got a gauge this evening but just my luck no fitting for test port so I'll go by the local industrial supply and pick one up tommmorrow morning
I'm not asking to save money I'm wanting my truck fixed. And I don't have deep enough pocket to stand back and throw 300-400 dollar parts at it hoping to fix it. I've done tried that on my 7.3 it don't work I spend 5 grand throwing parts on it when in the end the part to fix it was $350 after I got some body that knew what they where doing to look at it
Spent the day with the ol ball and chain. Got the blue spring update done took a while thanks to a pile of blue glue somebody put on it thank the lord i spent the 30 extra bucks on the whole kit found a crack in my secondary fuel filter cap so i cahanged it also cleaned the exhaust back pressure sensor tube cleaned and fuel tank dropped and cleaned out. Truck is running alot better but still got alittle surge to it on hills. Any suggestions
Surges are usually due to the ICP sensor or the EGR valve. Sometimes cleaning the EGR is not enough. Also sometimes you can dislodge carbon rocks and they can get caught in the EGR valve later.
