If you have a Haynes manual the torque spec for the solenoid pack is there. I remember it is is inch/pounds. I'll look it up if you don't have it.
got a haynes and a chiltons, but dont have an inch/pound torque wrench. thanks for the heads up. that'll save a special trip to sears, i can stop on the way home from work.
Also, one of the bolts has a Torx head. While the pan was off I put a drain plug in about two inches up the back slope. O'Reillys has a kit. I got tired of ATF showers.

torx head, no problem. dropped two pans now, stayed atf free both times. i used a two foot by three foot mixing tub to catch the fluid maybe that helped me stay dry. you can get one of those tubs at lowes or menards, they're back by the bags of concrete mix. putting a drain plug in anyway, seems like the right thing to do while the pans off.
might as well take the dual exhaust off the donar truck too. probably be a good idea while the tranny's out, be easier to weld correctly. no more exhaust leak blowin on the tranny, that should save heat and prolong life.
If your air bag module and air bag are the same be sure to save them before you dispose of the '94. Also any other compatible electronics that are failing with age and heat. I have lost the PCM, overhead console and air bag module. No idea what is next.
My transmission failed a week before deer season last year so I understand the urgency. I appreciated my buddy loaning his Chevy P/U but it was not near as good as my Bronco.
with great thanks to you guys for all your help, im finally done and driving the bronco again. didnt realize how *&^%ty the old tranny was til i put a fresh one in, much more positive shifts and more responsive. dual exhaust looks and sounds pretty good too.
i can feel a big ,positive, difference in power and drivability however, last night the light on the end of the shift column began blinking again, also the 4low light flickers very dim. when i stop at a traffic signals the 4low light stops flickering, when i take off it starts flickering again. the tranny shifts great but, will sometimes "hunt" for a gear when driving at a steady speed. almost feels like the tc is locking and unlocking or vise versa. yesterday i cleaned the battery terminals, might have got some water on the alternator. also sprayed off the underbody around the motor/trans. think ill start by checking the connecters. anybody have opinions or facts about cottman transmission, i felt they treated me good and were very informative, but havent heard about them like aamco. one more thing when i swapped trannys the donar had a ground strap between the motor and trans, the bronco i swapped into had a ground strap between the trans and t-case, wheres it supposed to go, probably couldnt hurt to have both.thanks
decided to roll under there and just take a good look at everything, kinda pleasently surprised to see the wiring harness sitting on top of the driveshaft where it bolts to the transfer case. as much as it hurts my pride to say it, it was my fault. apparently i forgot to secure it. 13 out of 23 wires cut through. taught my self how to solder wires, and got it fixed and secured this time. hopefully someone somewhere will read this and not make the mistake i did, as it caused me to not be able to drive it for another week until i found time to diagnose and fix it. also did a tuneup on her after i figured out and fixed what i goofed up. runnin like a champ again[knock on wood]. this site has so much info, i could read for months and still not know the half of it. without this site i probably wouldnt even have attempted to do a tranny swap. thanks to everybody who writes useful info and to everybody who replied to my posts. im definatly not a mechanic but hopefully one day i can read a post and be able to help someone else.
