93 F150 issues
Currently, I'm working on my Nephew's 93 F150 302 2 WD auto w/235K miles.
It quit on him a few months ago and he had the timing chain replaced.
No more than a couple hours after he picked it up it died again.
Long story shorter, I got it running again.
We replaced the ign module in the distributor and I noticed it had been replaced before...by some caveman with a 16oz ball peen hammer.

Well, I did what I could with it, the Hall Effect cage was bent a little, so I straightened it out, best I could.
There was a lot of up and down play in the shaft. Maybe .100 or so.
I put it back in and got it running, but it's missing on a couple cylinders.
I replaced the coil, wires, cap/rotor, did a compression test (140 psi +- a couple on all cylinders) checked the plugs and they all look clean and fairly new.
I can take it out on the road and as long as it's not under load it seems to run fine. When it shifts into OD or start up a hill, is shudders like two cylinders dropped out.
So, I took it home again, let it idle and pulled wires off the dist one by one.
No 2 and 5 are not hitting. Not even getting the tick, tick, tick I got from all the other wires.
I'm starting to suspect the distributor. Would the excessive play and/or the bent Hall Effect cage cause this problem?
I've been working on this thing all weekend and I've had my fill.
Maybe tomorrow will shed new light. Maybe someone here can shine it.
Thanks in advance.
