Removing gas tank.

I've got a 1997 F-250 with dual tanks. The rear one is leaking and I want to just remove it. Are there any special tools I need to disconnect the fuel lines or anything? Any help is appreciated.

Yes,you will need a fuel line tool to get the fuel line off .You can get them at th auto parts store .They come in different sizes ,but its best to buy the set.

i never used a special tool. Maybe its differant on a diesel but my lines had a plastic clip that slide back to unlock the fitting and the lines seperated. Maybe there wasa change after my series....

Not sure if you have narrowed down you leak as yet, but when you get the tank down, I suggest you replace the gasket and lock ring.

Having just completed removing the bed on my 93, if I was going to do much with gas tanks, I'd consider removing the bed. Everything is easily accessible.
