I have came across this starter and need to know what engine it is for. The numbers on it are: E3EF-11051-AA I know it is has the 1983 date, but that is all I know about it. Any help appreciated.

This starter is not for an escort. It is way too big for any little engine. The only difference in it and starters I am used to using in large V 8s is the nose cone shape/ bolt pattern. The numbers are as I listed before E3EF-11051-AA. It has been rebuilt and it is possible that the starter is made up of several different starters.

we have the same starter and would v.m. appreciate if anyone can say for sure for which engine / year : we have it listed on eBay under seller '5companies' Agreed; its probbly rebuild ... the numbers found are different front vs. rear (have a look on ebay) but we are uncertain if the years are correct. It was once purchased for a V6 automatic in a '89 Lincoln Continental but didnt fit.
