Hey yall I'm looking for a way to increase mpgs. I found a local truck that is 4x4, 4spd, 6.9 I believe NA. My truck is a 4spd also, with super cooling, oil cooler, and 4.10s. I figure a 6.9 would be a damn easy swap but I don't know for sure. With the entire truck I figure it wouldn't be all that hard. What all can I use on my truck with this new motor?

 

Well its a matter of just swapping parts really! You need the t19 trans from the donor truck, radiator , core support, battery trays, harness and the rest you will figure out as you go!

 

So given my choices of a diesel to swap in I'd assume an entire truck, especially the 6.9 would be the best choice simple because of the setup of everything. Once I pull the 6.9 is there anything I should do to ensure it will last a long while. Mostly a turbo is the plans for this truck, so I am guessing arp studs.

 

I'm also interested in this swap for the same reasons as the op is, better mileage.

 

yes its a bolt in with a donor with all the parts and alot of elbow grease...you can use your stick however... i stuffed a 6.9 idi with banks sidewinder kit into my 78 f250 supercab 4X4...the np 435 works good but i need larger tires to compinsate for the 4.10 gears...truck is currently taken back apart for body work exhaust sheilding and other mods...
