I have problem, my stock fuel gauge has a fluxation problem. At first start the fuel gauge is at one level and then when Im driving it will jump up a 1/8 to 1/4 tank and go's up and down
think you need to add more fuel. At 1/4tank, your fuel is about atmost 1/2in layer, laying bottom in tank, the slightest peadel, whether gas or brake, with slosh it around, making the float do funny things
The sending unit can get gunked up causing erratic readings. While talking with an excellent Ford mechanic he said that adding some Chevron "Pro Guard" injector cleaner has sometimes proven successful in cleaning the sender on both gassers and diesels. Certainly worth a try before dropping the tank.
I would think the use of Diesel Kleen may also clean it up and occasional use would keep it clean, let alone the benefit for the injectors.
My 2002 F350's fuel gauge will not read accurately between 3/4-1/2 tank. Took it in under warranty some years back but the dealer couldn't see the problem because the gauge didn't fluctaute at the time (go figure)
I would bet now if I took the truck in, the dealer would figure out the problem since it is on my dime. I have read where several of the PSD's have this issue. Seems to me Ford should correct the issues with the fuel sending units on their dime. Sounds like defective workmanship?
i call it a pain in the *** bobbly fuel gauge i have the same problem best way iv noticed how much fuel i have is park it running and it will tell me cuz wen i start moving i have more fuel
Mine will go down to 3/4's then back to full until i'm just under 1/2 tank.
At least it works on the bottom half.
I reset the trip odometer just incase the gauge quits working.

Same experience here also, Dads was stuck on full starting in May. We were just about to pull the tank a couple weeks ago before he heads back to Florida and it started working again.. He has been using his Trip all summer. He don't want to worry about it. If it does it again we will pull the tank next summer. I figure Gunk Build up.. I will let him know about Diesel Kleen trick.
