Water Pump Leaking....

I have done a search and didn't find anyting. Anyone's water pump leaking? I have had the truck for a year but it only has 17,000 miles on it. It is leaking at the shaft seal. Specialty orange is dripping off the pulley onto the hose and also back onto the water pump housing. You can see some on a bolt in one of the pics.

It's a holiday here so I have not gotten an appointment at the dealer yet. But get this, I stoped by and parts was open on saturday. Said I need a jug of specialty orange. They told me they don't stock it and would have to order it! NICE! This is not downtown Hollywood Ford dealer, this is red neck Alberta. The dealer has at least 50 6.7's on the lot! 10% of the vehicles on the road here are 1 ton diesels. Yikes, this shoudl be fun!

Thanks

I have already had mine replaced. They said it was my primary water pump that went out. Im pretty sure it was around the 8,000 mile mark that it went out and I now have about 14,000 miles and all has been good since

Darren,
In your first picture in the upper right hand corner there is a crack in the rusted steal item. I'm can't tell what that component is from this picture, but you may need to have that checked as well.

Thanks, it is just line in the casting. But it sure does look like a crack in that picture!

Thanks for posting your water issue, but I'm sorry you have to deal with it.

I smell coolant when my engine is hot but I'm not losing any and can't find any wet spots. Drives me crazy because the smell is un mistakable and has to be coming from somewhere. I suppose it could be normal though since I have only added about 8oz of fluid to the thing in 14 months.

You may want to grab a flashlight, crawl under there and take a really close look at your water pump. I have smelled coolant as well for quite some time. I only noticed mine because I was under there messing around with my steering stabilizer. A drop happened to fall onto me. I have never added any coolant. My leak has slowed way down now, only a drop now and then. But the coolant leaks onto the pulley / belt which is moving when the engine is running and probably vaporizes it (or at least spreads it around). Explains why I could smell it and not see it (Iguess??).

Thanks

Update

Things are progressing as expected.
Called dealership Sept 6 and told them my water pump is leaking.
Dropped off truck Sept 13 (yesterday) at 7:00 AM.
Just got the call, "Your water pump is leaking (no %#$@), we need to order a pump and the coolant" (I am still blow away they don't stock the stuff), "it is specialty coolant you know." (told them there is 3 gal in the back of the truck they can use if they like, no response) "We should be able to get your truck back to you at the end of the day Friday Sept 16"

The good news is that it looks like they are going to cover it under warranty (for those who don't know I have deleted all my emmissions equip and void my warranty).

The bad news is another 4 days with my vehicle and $500.00 in rental vehicle charges. At least they know me by name at Enterprise, I am up to about 30 days and $3,750.00 in rentals. Immagine where I would be at if I had not deleted all my problematic emmissions equip back in January!

Thanks for reading my rant!

At least they're being reasonable.
Some dealers would simply say "ah you're tuned and that's why your water pump is leaking........" which has nothing to do with it.

BTW - I think it's your water pump.

I'm not so sure. I think it could be his water pump.

I usually rent something fairly cool when my truck is in the shop cuz, why not? I have rented H2 hummer, Chrysler 3000, mustang convertible (V6 though), Infinity G35 and even an F250 gasser (don't ask me wny?).
But when I saw this bad boy, well, I just had to drive it!
If I get my truck back early enough today, I have a crane sitting around doing nothing, I may just put this baby in the back and take it back in the truck. I think it will fit! Budget will get a pretty good laugh I think!

Specs report 11.63 feet for a FIAT 500.
Sure doesn't look that long in the picture.

Silly short bed! That thing won't even fit in a long bed. Now a SMART car may be a different story.
