Which auto is suitable
I intend to change my worn out old 4 speed for an auto. Question is which auto do I put in. Engine is 351 Clev with 9". People have told me all sorts of things ie C6, FMX, C10, C4. I can find plenty of C4's but not sure if they would be too light even with a shift kit installed. However in saying that I see they are used in a lot of heavily modded sedans running big horsepower. Don't know much about autos so any help on the matter would be appreciated

The C4 or C6 will work, either one can be built to handle big power. Or just focus on finding and building a C6, then you'll be set for what ever you can throw at it. I think the C6 is Ford's toughest automatic transmission.

I'm partial to the FMX. Takes less horsepower to operate than the C4, is built better, and has a cast IRON housing. Definately a heavy duty tranny. In fact, the AOD, AODE, and 4R70 are designed after the FMX. They are kinda rare, but well worth it if found.
Only down side is it was only available as a 2wd. No (factory) 4x4 FMX's exist.
