Don't tell my insurance company, but tonight I finally thought I'd put the hammer down and see what the truck could do. Was cruisin just under 70 when I stepped on the go pedal. A few seconds later I let up on the gas a little bit and she finally shifted into od at 90. Hit 95 and still climbing when I let up and brought her back down to 70. All that in not much more'n a quarter mile. Still had plenty off room for speed at 95 too. It's got some go under that hood. I usually won't take it much over 75 cause I'm too paranoid about getting expensive tickets. I'm sure it'll peg the speedo now. Now I wanna take it to an open day at a track and see where top end is at.
Take DKF's word for the stability so you can save yourself the possible speeding ticket. Then send me the $10 in gas you will save by not doing the 100MPH run.
Well, you are lucky then if you got it over 100mph. I have a 2001 V-10 and as I was a passenger in my own truck, it would not get over 95mph. It acted as though it had a governor on it and this was a brand new truck at the time and maybe a year and half to 2 years old. As I think back on it now, man, I sure trusted my friend!
I believe the ford trucks are governed at 95-98 in stock tune, mainly due to the tires not being rated for speeds above that. My Ranger and Expedition wouldn't go over 98mph.
just picked up my 03 today started crusin down the highway at 75 before I knew it I was doin 90 to easy I love the v10
U will love it!!! I picked up a 02 2 months ago
Funny story I was doing 72 on cruise control on the HWY and a little car tried to go around me and I pushed it a bit hard next thing i was at 90+ easily I think the 70-90 is faster than the 0-5 lol. Needless to say the car didn't get by me
I had a 2001. I actually got BETTER gas mileage when I ran faster. Truck Governed at 95. I would run 90 (no Cruise) on the interstate. The Distance was 120 miles. First time i did it my hand calculated mileage was high for the tank. So the next 3 times I made the trip, I filled up right before i jumped on the interstate, and filled up right when i got off 120 miles later. I got 18-19 all 3 times. Normal highway mpg for that truck running 70 was 14-15. Go figure. The engine was somehow more efficient.

I actually noticed that myself. A couple of times coming home I might have been in the throttle a little more that normal. After filling up and calculating the mileage it was a little better than normal. Not a big increase maybe .5 mpg difference. This is 80-85 mph area. My guess would be it puts the engine in it's sweet spot.
