Front Diff Not Engaging- Help
2006 F150, SuperCrew with 5.4
I just replaced the firewall actuator valve for the hubs, and went to try out the 4 wheel drive. The hubs engage and lock to the axle shaft, the transfer case engages and locks to the front driveline, but the front differential isn't doing anything. Is there an actuator for the front or did something break inside?

I had this problem occur last April during a Heavy Wet 18 inch snow storm (April 1st as luck would have it). Apparently, the original Vacuum Solenoid on the firewall was located right under the end of the weatherstripping for the hood, and the water would carry minute amounts of dust into the vacuum solenoid/vacuum lines. The redesigned solenoid has a cover on it that precludes water from getting into the system.
When I opened mine up it was filled with dirt, as were the vacuum lines down to the hubs. I took it to the dealership and they checked it out to find that hubs were filled with dirt and corroded pretty badly....My Truck is a 2004 with only 35000 miles on it..spends a lot of time parked and that must have helped as the corrosion was pretty extensive....they tried cleaning but the damage was done, so I had to pay to have them replaced.....it was close to $1300 for everying (some brake work in there too). Good luck.

FT, Did you get this fixed/identify the exact problem? Have you seen this thread before? Good for trouble shooting 4x4 vacuum issues, which are the most common problem with the 4x4 system.
