Drive with hubs locked

Hello;

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to run your F150 4x4 automatic with the front manual hubs locked for extended periods of time without being in 4x4 in the transfer case? Will it do any damage? I usually do this once a week for a day just to keep things lubricated.

Thanks,
Mike

It won't hurt it to run it with the hubs locked. It's just going to put a little wear your front axle and driveshaft. I think Ford recommends locking them once a month and riding a few miles to lub it up. Just don't lock in your transfer case into 4wd on pavement.

Drive with hubs locked

Beratte,
You answered one of my questions without even knowing it. My hubs are always locked, and I know it will wear things a little faster, but until I change to part time shaft in my NP 203, it will just have to wear. This truck is new to me, so I'm going through, piece by piece, and going to check EVERYTHING for wear and tear. Thanks again.

Matt

It will also burn a bit more gas but in the long run it will be cheper then having to replace parts that got wrecked from not being used.
