Yup.. I got some nasty condensation issues with the headlights, you can see the chrome inside peeling all nasty and it's just ugly. I personally like the all clear lenses, (not those geeky halo or euro things) and I didn't know the quality of the ones I see on ebay for sub 100 bucks for a set. Anyway, time to replace the lenses altogether -- where do you suggest to get them (preferably on the cheap, I dont wanna spend 300+ bucks per side).
on the same issue of water leaks -- my third brake light/rear window is leaking like hell, do you know where I can get a replacement seal? Or do I just need to bust out the extra strength caulking sealant for that thing?
Honestly, you get what you pay for with headlights. Sub $100 for a set, and they're likely to be absolute crap. Go look at Recon and their replacement setup. If not, then try www.partsguyed.com (site sponsor) as his prices are usually hard to beat for OEM.
As for the 3rd brake light. Don't get a replacement...waste of $$$. Unscrew it. Clean off any of the old gasket. Apply a nice thick bead of silicone sealer and reinstall.
Have you considered baking them and painting the chrome, and them resealing them yourself with high temp sealant??
There are plenty of vids on youtube available on how to do it. I'm waiting for mine to start leaking so that I can do it without the Wife chewing me out. It doesn't damage your oven or anything. A couple buddies and I have done it to their trucks..(they don't have wives) and it worked out great...
I've tried those super cheap ebay lights. They are junk. Huge amounts of condensation within 2 weeks. Tried to take them apart to reseal them and still they leaked. My blubs would seat properly because the housing was so far out of spec. If you're trying to do it on the cheap mabye try some wreckers.
Don't know about the headlights, but like others have said about the third brake light, some caulk or silicon sealant will work fine. Mine was leaking into the cab of the truck so I just took it off and applied some caulking. I also applied some into the screw holes and then put the screws back in so it wouldn't leak through that either.
