Setting the speedometer
Problem. Just bought an 05 Ex LTD with a 6.0L. with bigger tires (37"), a friend says the diesels are different and a programmer will be able to change them. His knowledge stems from a 2002 F250 with 7.3L.
Question: Does the diesel 05 Ex speed sensor still run to the ABS and can't be changed by a programmer or are the diesels different from the gassers in this respect. I would like to get my speedo fixed and I don't want to purchase a Accuspeed if a programmer will do the trick.
Any ideas??

Thanks in advance,
My 7.3 diesel also uses the ABS sensor. To my knowledge the 6.0 also uses the ABS sensor for this.
However! My 7.3 diesel uses the same ABS sensor as the V10, and you CAN change the speedo with a proper tuner (high quality ones). So I dont see why you cant do that to a V10. However the 6.0 may be different.
while my sct tuner allows adjusting the revs/mile to help the tranny tuning program know when to shift, none of them, that I know of, change the speedo...
and Trey, what treatment did you give to the first responder in your sig ? OH, you "treated" the patient too !!!!!!!

I have a SCT tuner for the v10 and no dice, even tech support said it would not change it, and no plans were in the future to do it. A call to both Superchips and Hypertech confirmed they do not do it also.
Called the local ford dealership and they said they could not on the v10, then called Tommy Vaughn Ford a SVT dealership that does high performance mods and they said it was a 50/50 shot if they could.

Jd...that is correct I could change the revs/mile and the axle ratio (as I switched to 4.88s), but the speedo was still wrong. That is why I went with a Accuspeed.
Just wanting to make sure the diesel was the same or not.

[quote=TreySpooner65;10770314]There is a tuner that will do it. I think its called a scan gauge. Or something like that.. I cant remember. The best way it to get an AE.
I thought the scan gauge II was just a monitor. I did not think it actually tuned anything...am I wrong? Also what does AE stand for?

I knew there was another one other than the AE.
