351W Valve Covers

I'm thinking about putting a rebuilt 351W in my 93 Bronco that currently has a 302 in it. I'm having a tough time finding aftermarket valve covers for this model year and engine. I'm not looking to spend tons of money. Any suggestions?

I've got these on my '87 5.0, and they should work on the 93 5.8 too.

They are around $60 at summit racing. Ford Motorsports part number FMS-M-6582-B303R. I'm not sure what kind you are looking for, but these look pretty good. They are the same size as factory, so if you're looking for extra clearance for roller rockers, these might not be the best thing for you. But if you are just looking for something shiny, these are good.

I personally wouldn't put Ford Racing Equipment valve covers on my lawn mower. Every stinkin' one of them comes complete with a made in China sticker inside each one. I'm not kidding. The chrome steel ones start to rust as soon as you take them out of the box and the aluminum ones are more like friggin' potmetal. The are extremely brittle. I've had both and speak from experience. I'm pretty sure that the valve covers actually cost about $10 and the Ford Racing logo costs $50. The quality is very low.

I have no rust on mine, and they've been in there for several years. They are just like stock, except chrome. I saw no 'made in china' sticker either. Slik has the aluminum ones on his 351, and I see nothing wrong with his either. I'd rather run a valve cover on my Ford motor that says Ford on it somewhere than somebody's name that didn't build the motor, like Edelbrock or Moroso.

Well, I really wouldn't have any reason to make that up. Both sets that I bought had the made in China stickers. Call FMS and ask them where they are made. Maybe it's nice and dry where you're at, but here in the rust belt, cheap chrome doesn't stand a chance. And I think it's rediculous to spend $100+ on their aluminum one considering the set I had was fine the first time, but when I swapped heads and went to put them on, a 3 inch chunk of the rail broke out around the bolt hole. And no, I didn't overtorque them. I was using a nutdriver, not a ratchet. I don't care whose name is on them, but if they came over here on a boat, they are NOT Ford parts.

I'm not saying your experiences are wrong or incorrect. That's fine, I hate it that you didn't have as good of luck with yours as I've had with mine. What valve covers are you running now?

I replaced one set with a repainted set of stockers and the other set with a pair of finned, cast Holley's. I'm not a Holley fan, but their valve covers are nice.

I'm about to pick up a set of Edelbrock Elite covers, because the ones I have now belong to my neigbor, who is an indian giver. Cal-Customs finned aluminum, vintage 1968, first appeared on the Shelby GT-350, which didn't survive a glass fuel filter breaking under pressure, and he offered the lone surviving parts to me when I was rebuilding my 302. Now, he wants them back because he's building another 302. Edelbrock Elite are tall style, to clear roller rockers, and $70, compared to Ford's aluminum covers, which are over $100, and they look so much better....

I'll tell y'all about the quality when I get 'em
