Good job Larry. I knew you had it in you

BNot too bad on the pullers and attachments 73.

I've got a 7/8 hex socket for a 3/4 drive that worked for removing the king pins. About a 5' section of DOM helped tremendously though

This thread isn't about the rear hangers.

Kingpins can be brutal to change. Heard on Pirate they are factory torqued to like 600 ft/lbs!

Ive heard that also. Add to it 30yrs of rust, grime and the weight of the truck makes those things almost impossible to twist right out.

Not auto related

This is a jig to install fascia board on houses two stories or more.

It can hold 2x6 or 2x8 up to 24 feet long.

Saves money by not needing to build scaffolding around house.

We cut the rafter tails from the "top" too.

BTW

I made a pair of them.

Hereʻs a funny one.

I started making these years ago when Simpson strong ties were making
there way in to home construction.

I have at least 3 slim jims on or in the back of my trucks. 2 in the F150 bed

and one on the Bronco bumper - strapped to the Hilift jack.

Each are about 3 feet long with a notch in the end to hook on to what ever I

can to open the door. I used these countless times on my trucks and other

peoples cars in parking lots.

Most people FREAK OUT when I open the door is a few seconds. I usually get

a non reassuring/assured "thanks".

Never mind coming over here to look for my trucks either you guys.

before i put the 60 in my 88 i redid the kingpins, because the truck was in a fire.
after putting it together and seeing the 600 lbs torque specs, we were trying to figure out how to get there. then one of the guys had the bright idea of a 1 inch drive breaker bar, a 10 ft pipe, and 3 people pulling on the pipe.

about a year later, i was able to borrow a large torque wrench and we were close, we had the bolts around 550 lbs.

I have a 1" wrench as ashift handle in my 94..

For king pins I went to the local steel yard and bought some 7/8ths hex stock for $5, put itin the cup, put a socket on it, andput my long 1/2 drive ratchet in it andgave it a good heave hoe and got it loose. Same to put new back in.

I didnt torque my kingpins back to exact spec - my torque wrench only goes to 250lbs anyway. I could rough guess based on simple math but then my brain would hurt and Id have nothing to blame on teh booze.

Here are some StG built products.

20ton air/hydraulic press

lead/cord/stinger/helmet holder for my mig

Clock - D70 ring gear and 2 460 cams

Axle cart with custom adjustable pinion support

4wheeler fix thanks to Paul and the clothes dryer turret of death

Ive got some more little misc tools/wrenches/stuff Ive built but I need to take some pics.

i dig the clock. you ever see the allgonoshow guy's build thread on pirate? he posted here for a bit. he has a mini flatbed with bedside skins dovetailed on a 78 and he cut a ring gear in half and welded it to the flatbed as a hook point for holding a tool box. thought that was a pretty cool use of left over junk. here's a pic without the toolbox. nothing fancy, just a cool idea.

I like the ring gear deal but I think I wouldve bent a piece of rebar or round stock into a horseshoe instead.

it's a big plastic foot locker more than it is a tool box. this pic shows how it's used better. guess i kind of remembered wrong. it's there to hold the box in place, not a point to tie down to.
