does anyone know if the earlier wheel hubs (pre 05) will fit the later trucks (08 in this case). i have two that i had bought for a previous truck and now need to replace the ones on my current truck which is a 2008 f 250 4x4. The hubs i have are for 99-04 ford superduty 4x4.
The whole bearing assembly changed, so OEM hubs won't work right. And the last I checked, aftermarket hubs like Warns won't fit unless you get the stub shafts machined down about half an inch or buy shorter shafts. You could say we're getting the shaft because we're stuck with oem....

I'd never heard it before, but it was posted last night that Warn actually makes the newer OEM hubs. Did a little research and it's true. Can't comment for the auto's but my manual lockers seem to be pretty robust. Warn Industries - Press Release: Hub Lock Technology
I'll admit I didn't know Warn made the manual ones... maybe I'll look into retrofitting those instead of the auto lockouts. When I did my research I wanted real Warn Premiums like we'd used on some older trucks, and there's no joy on that front. The biggest reason was I've rebuilt Warns and it's not hard.
OP was asking about an 08, and the last time I checked, the Warn 62672, listed for Dana 60 axles with 35 spline outer shafts, would not work on Super Duties after 2004, confirmed by Warn, Art, and the parts diagram. The problem is the older Warns are for a 30 spline stub shaft, and after 2005 when the bearings changed, it's a 35 spline shaftthat's slightly larger, and the Warn hub for that application can't handle the length of the stub shaft.
Either way his older hubs shouldn't work with the new bearings and stub shafts on the 08.
Correct, and I didn't mean to get off topic - just thought it was good information.
I guess I'm going to do it again though - the reason Warn can't make anything under their own name for the newer ones is that they're still under contract w/ Ford. That doesn't explain why Mile Marker or one of the others hasn't though.
thanks for the replys, i was actually interested if the wheel hub, the part with the bearings, would work with the newer truck. from the previous post it looks like they changed the spline count. so the older locking hubs would not work with the new stub shafts.
i have a pair timken wheel hubs, new in the box, send me an offer to sheppard_10 at bellsouth dot net. i had bought them for an 05 but they had have the smaller center for the locking hub. i did a part number check an they are for 04 and earlier.
