Bad Radio Reception
my sirius radio took a dump on tues. so i have been listening to regular radio...anyway i couldnt get reception yesterday am. i decided after work to check it out. the antenna pulled right out of the base. looked like the screw fitting was broke off in the base. got a new base with antenna, and still dont have good reception...a lot of static...i hate the radio anyway, but i need something till my new receiver gets here. any audio/video gurus out there can lend a hand???

Are you using the OEM head unit?
How were you getting the satellite signal to the head unit? One method is to broadcast the signal to a FM frequency and then tune your radio to that frequency. Another method is to add an in-line connector between the radio and your antennae. In larger metro areas, it's common to completely disconnect the antennae so the radio only gets the satellite signal and has less interference with local broadcast channels.
Long story short....is the antennae plugged in to the back of the radio?

I see in your sig u have a f5, is it hooked up? The tuner will kill the recieption on your radio (for me at least) depending where u run the switch wire. I ran mine too close to the fuse box and it messed up the 2 radio stations I listen to. Mine were 96.5 and 99.5 could have been others but I only listen to 2 stations. I rerouted the wire away from the fuse box and all was good.
