Timing chain cover gasket - question.

Just installed a new timing chain cover on my 460 (D1VE block) and noticed that the gasket between the cover and the block has excess material that sticks out all the way around the edge. Is it OK to trim this gasket down flush with the edge of the cover? I would not be removing the cover as it is already in place with RVT and torqued to specs.

Thanks.

If you don't like the looks of it there would be nothing wrong with trimming it down flush with the block & cover.
