SKID PLATE

Have an issue....Skid plate is starting to rust out on the raised sections of the plate which hold the tank in place and keep it from sliding around... Should i have it welded?? or is it cheaper to replace it?? if its cheaper to replace any salvage yards you recommend to find one?? or ppl willing to part with one??? needs to fit around a 33gal tank>> Thanks for any info.

What year Bronco do you have? It should still be strapped in, not just resting on the skid plate.

Mine has no bottom straps and fits up tight to the top straps with the just the plate. I like it this way, no stubborn strap bolts if I have to drop the tank lol.

That is a good reson to skip the straps, Kenpobuck, but I think since his plate is rusting, he'd have to replace the whole skid plate and thats prolly a good bit more expensive then getting a couple straps.

It looks like you're gonna have to search scrapyards and ebay. You'd prolly be better off making one yourself, or modifying a newer one.

Finding one off of a newer Bronco. Might be easier then finding a good one for a 78-79. Or you could look into one of those steel gas tanks.
