1988 REPAINT

I got a great deal on a F250/460 duallie. Paint is cracking. I got 8 different reasons why the factory paint and 12 ways to fix it. Does anyone have the true story on this paint and what will it take to prep and repaint it? Yes going down to bare metal would be the best but is there a better result? THX

Where ever the paint is cracked, you need to take it to bare metal. You can use a metal etch or metal etcing primer over those spot's. Then you need to use a primer/filler over that to blend it in with the existing paint. Wash the truck with detergent first to get rid of grease\oils\wax and dirt. To take something down to bare metal is VERY expensive and time consuming. With that being said, do the above, scuff it with a scotch pad if the body is as good as you like, wipe it down with a degreaser, tach rag it, then shoot it with paint. That is a VERY short answer to your question.
