metal flake paint

I am looking at a truck that has been painted with metal flake paint. Someone once told me that metal flake has a tendency to peel off. Is this true? The truck did have some spots that were starting to peel. I was wondering what everyone here thinks of this. Thanks

Older clear coats have been known to peel... are you sure that is not what is peeling? I wouldn't think metal flake would show any more tendencies to peel than any other paint, provided they were properly prepped and a good product applied.

No, I am pretty sure that it was the paint that was peeling becuase bare metal was showing where it had peeled off of.

If bare metal is showing, I would think someone didn't use a good grade of primer or the sheetmetal was improperly prepped before priming. Most likely you will need to take everything down to matal and start over.
