What is this??

I have an 06 F250 CC FX4 PSD, my brother has the same truck but an 05. We both have the same issue, if it is even an issue....

Looking at the passenger front ujoint as the shaft goes in to the axle, the is a black plastic piece that is just hanging loose... What is this thing? Is it pretty difficult to replace?

are you talking about the pic titled passenger front u-joint?
that looks like a dust shield.

That is the correct pic. Thats what I was thinking as well, but it does seem like it would do much good out away from the shaft like that. I was curious if it was broke....

Looks like the shaft seal popped out...... and that created the X

Happens a lot on that style. Hell it even happend on my new seals on my 94 in less than 2 months.
