re c.p.s.

well after a new battery and four diffrent c.p.s. witch i thought might be the problem, but to no avail did not fix the issue. the truck still stalls out at the same place, right when i pull off the hwy making a right while breaking the truck rpms drop then dies what gives. well when i figure it out i will post the fix . hopefully soon it might help some one else one day. venting thank you for your time back to the drawing board.

By the way it sounds seems like a wiring issue. Have you looked into the chaffed wires for the O/D cancel in the steering column?

RPM's dropping when coming down, could be IPR related too, I reread your post and see that would be how I would describe it? Any chance you have a diagnostic tool to data log some things while driving?

A sticky IPR or a biased ICP may be the easiest explanation to it dying.

Mine was acting similar and it was the IPR.

i.p.r.

well i ran to work in 80hp tow no issues.i have also drove in stock tune on issues. i haven't try ed 120 r yet, did not know if that was a good idea for long period.the only time it seems to do it is in 60 E, at the same place every time (weird) a buddy of mine has a scanner and i will try to get him to drive the truck today with it hooked up. I did get some IPR orings from diesel orings (bob) and if the scanner does not revile any thing i will be tarring into the IPR this weekend. from what i believe there is no way to up the idle. thank you for your replies

I am having problems that sound the same as Wuttrd's. I thought maybe it was the CPS, but now maybe not. I located one at my local dealership and before I buy it and do the work, I thought I would investigate these other issues.

I looked on Racer Guy's post of acronyms and did not see ICP and IPR. Can anyone help me out with those?

I.C.P. I.P.R.

(I.C.P.) INJECTION CONTROL PRESSURE SENSOR and ( I.P.R.) INJECTION PRESSURE REGULATOR. i don't have a photo where they are located but one in on the driver side rail and the other is mounted on the (hpop) high pressure oil pump. is your truck dying at the same place or is it random just curious

No....not dying in the same place at all. When it did die, it started right back up and then when I put the brake on the shift into drive, that's when it would die. I also started it and let it run for about 6-7 seconds and then it would die all on it's own.

I really think it's the cps, but I wanted to find out about the other items just so I'd know where to look if this fix doesn't do the trick.

Just found out that the cps is still covered under an open recall. I have a 2000 PSD with the 7.3L. Anyone having problems with this should call the dealership and ask them to run your vin. That's what I did and they were very helpful.

I also found out that there are open recalls for the wiper motor cover as well as a cruise control sensor. The dealership seemed pretty concerned about the cruise sensor. They said it was a fire hazard.

I have an appt. on Tuesday morning.
