Well, the word is out I guess. I've had a 36 Cord sitting by the pool out back for a couple years. I've got an extra 272 Y-block, some F-250 front sheet metal, and a short box I'm going to put on it to get it enough HP and aerodynamics for the strip. I figure I'll be in the low 8's with the stock 272 and I can put in whatever money I can find to go down to the low 5's. I'll probably stick with the T89D HD tranny and Spicer 60 rear axle to handle the torque. Anybody have any good ideas about changing the original Cord front steering and suspension out with a more modern straight axle and effie steering gearbox? I don't know much about notching the frame and such to put in updated straight axle suspensions. Oh, and I'll probably need some torque bars to stop rear spring windup.
I think there is a guy who posts here from time to time... name of John or James or something. He takes front ends out, cuts a notch in his frame, removes that front end, installs another, cuts another notch in his frame, etc.... he's got a pal in the midwest somewhere... used to have Holsteins or something. Im sure these fellows would be very helpful with suspension problems. Haven't heard from them in a while... the weather must be nice and they are out driving around in their trucks. Good luck with the Cord. best. himmelberg

Many drag strips do not have an 8 hour program. I think it will be necessary that you get your quarter down under 5 hours.

I've been laying low every since I tried to kill Fergy. It seems Nathan is very upset about the whole Artillery Barrage thing. I didn't realize RMF had a friend or I might not have been so impulsive. But anyway.................
You recommend John and I for advice on suspension problems. What kind of suspension problems does George desire? I can give George Chryser suspension problems. But John is your man if your desire Ford suspension problems. We could probably screw up a GM suspension too if you put us both on the project. Let us know.

The only "Cord" that I kow of is of the wood type, just figured George would charge that much to deliver one in "Earl". Alos if ya look close you can see a tow hook in George's? hand, see'in as how most of them reside in the bed of fine pickups, and George may may drive at the outer limits of caution (read his posts) that hook could attach itself to some poor unexpecting bluehair and create the "Dragster" effect.
As for the timing issued raised he may belong to NSMA (National Slow Movers Association)
Fenders don't you remember the Makin fun of fenders post when the border guard said not to beat up any Canadians then you would have to mess with every Canadian?

Ferg... wasn't really worried, my Canadian brother. You guys manage to keep all the cold wet miserable weather up there AND maintain that cheery outlook. Dodging heavy artillery is nothing. This is not to say that the outfit in which I hold veteran status is incapable of delivering the mail, as it were. 'Fenders is just toying with you. best. himmelberg
