Cruise control problem

I have a 97 powerstroke with 210000 mi, when driving with the cruise control on and I engage the left turn signal it will shut off the cruise just like I've stepped on the brake pedal. Turning on the right signal everything works correctly, it appears that I have a problem in the left turn circuit any ideas on where to start?

Sounds like you are getting a backfeed from the turn signs into the brake circuit. My first thought is to check the bulb for proper installation

check your recalls there is one on your cruise control for that year.
