After driving nearly 3000 miles on the expressway over the last 3 weeks it has become very clear: this truck needs more power. With the truck being loaded up with 4 passengers and enough luggage for the trip it was very slow to respond on the expressway. I averaged 15 mpg for the whole trip so I guess the truck is running right.
The only mods so far are a aftercat and a K&N filter. Would I pick up some power with short tube headers? How about a high flow y pipe ? Does anybody even make one for this truck ? How about a throttle body ? Maybe the blower setup from a lightning ? Is it a bolt-on ?
A lightning setup is bolt-on if you get all the parts. I am extremely happy with my setup from vortech along with the supporting mods. I don't think short tube headers will make much of a difference without increasing the flow on the intake side. Although if you develop the common exhaust leak at the manifolds it would be a good time to switch. As for the y-pipe and throttle body I am still running the stock ones and it has not been much of a hindrance in terms of performance.
