Mine doesn't have PATS as an option on the first connection screen. The only way for me to get to it is through "enhanced powertrain" then on board testing then PATS.

Bear in mind PATS is not always a separate system by that name.*
*
Case in point, the PATS is located in the PCM on a 2005 through 2007 Escape, but in the 2008 it is located in the HEC.* So, on these vehicles you would never see PATS as a selection at the bottom of the VEHICLE SELECTION screen, but that doesn’t mean we will not support it.

I have tried it on a 2000 Mustang also with no luck. Same problem, I just go through the 10 minute wait time and then nothing. AE has been no help, and they ended up sending me the instructions that you wrote. I guess I'm headed to the Locksmith. PM me your email, I have a pic to send you.

I bought a clone Silca key programmer on Ebay for about $200 2 years ago. Prices on line are around $100 now. Had no problems getting a 2008 F150 key programmed then and today I programmed 2 keys for my 1998 Mustang. Also did keys for a 2003 Honda. Thing has paid for itself now.

That's interesting, I'll have to take a look. I do fleet maintenance and although AE has been great for PSD it hasn't lived up to my expectations as far as making replacement keys. I have had discussion with AE as late as this week but still no resolution.

Finally got my second key programmed with AE. I had been trying to do it through the powerstroke 7.3 setting and clicking on enhanced power train then pats. Apparently, I had to select excursion (gas) then I could select the pats module itself. Everything worked perfectly after that.

I've a Chinese clone Ford VCM and was able to program a key for a 2010 Lincoln with no problem.

I'm glad you finally got it to work, I finally gave up on AE other than pulling some codes on the older PSD. The folks at AE didn't support me so I haven't done any upgrades or anything to support them. I ended up paying a friend that had the Chinese clone software to make spare keys for me.

That's a shame that they never took care of you. I've had to contact their customer support several times for different reasons and they always provided some kind of insight. I have noticed that they will point you in a direction but not get you to the end result. For instance, they advised me I was trying to program the key wrong by entering enhanced power train on the PSD; they said I had to connect directly to PATS for it to work. I found on my own that I had to connect to excursion gas to find the PATS module. It really is a good program, once the little quirks are figured out; but, when time is money I'd rather not be using time with customer support.

SAME ISSUES

First of all, we bought a key and had it physically cut. It looks just like the key he has. I did find a chart in this forum that indicated that the were different key types, but it didn't even list a 2002 F-150, so I can't even be positive I have the right key.

This is the key I bought.

Ford OEM PATS Transponder Chip Key Blank * IN STOCK * | eBay

I put the new key in the ignition, turned it on and connected with AE. I had it read the VIN number from the truck and it indicated it was a 2002 F-150. I selected Enhanced Powertrain, then went to system tests and found PATS key programming. The first attachment below is the menu I got.

I started with "Enable Customer Spare Programming". It had me wait 10 minutes then gave me the following error you see in the second attachment.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I'm going wrong here?

Thanks,
I HAVE SPENT 14 HOURS OVER 10 DAYS. ITS NOT US ITS A/E PROGRAM
