Cause red just naturally isnt as bright as blue.
My odo is a nice bright blue.

On the interrior leds, DO NOT cut corners on them and try to get the cheap leds off ebay. Their crap. Order the ones from 86f150's writeup on the lightning forum. They fit great, are of good quality, and light up good. I bought cheap ones off ebay and some of them didnt fit right and didnt light up at all. ( i would sometimes have to smack my dash whiledriving down the road to get them to light up).
Also i didnt peel the green tint off so its probably possible to make them brighter.
Also the leds did work with the dimmer. Not really great but they did dim enough to be noticeable
I got my LEDs from superbrightleds.com and have had no problems. I have heard the same about the ebay ones not working well.
I did scrape the green off of the cluster and also remove the odometer part and scaped that green off. They are nice and bright. I have pictures in my profile of the cluster. I have since switched over to a cluster that includes a tach.
The HVAC controls could not be scraped because of the different way Ford applied the green but they don't need to be as they show up well also.
My exterior lights are next on my list.

well for the ODO im thinking amber, and if I can get the tach needles one color and the faces another im gonna try my plans...UV for the needles (hey white needles glowing from the UV light....would be interesting...and red or amber faces, may even consider yellow (would rather see purple then yellow)
@86F150: i would honestly rather another more experienced FTE member do the removal of the green film instead of me as I know id get in a hurry and ***** it up badly some how...but sadly i dont live close enough to anyone here that could help me pull this off
Remove the gauge faces
GENTLY scrape the green film off....Frequently holding it up to the light to check to make sure the green is gone, and only white remains....
reinstall the faces, needles, etc....and DONE...

i took a pic of my guages with the truck cold and just started. the hard one is the speedo. trying to put the needle on while driving and looking at the gps for the speed at the same.... tool me about 5 min once i figured out how to hold my tongue right.
to clean the green off i used a scotch brite pad (the maroon one) and a couple drops of water and it cleaned it off just fine. just hold it up to thew light to check very often. you only want to go enough to remove the green not too far and make thin spots the light will shine through. ( i tried the scrape with knife method but found that the scotchbrite worked WAY better)
i have the ebay led bulbs in mine and it workes pretty good. my only complaint is that the odo doesnt really light up with the red

i also did under dash lights

Kinda scared id screw up when putting the new needles on and my fuel gauge or speedo or tach would be off..
